CAPS CURRICULUM IN A HYBRID MODEL

At Edusmart we offer the CAPS Curriculum within a blended or hybrid learning model This means that learners receive instruction from a teacher in a small group (between 10 and 12 learners) in Grades 1-7 where they use textbooks and write in their scripts, but also receive content via Google Classroom and submit some assignments digitally from Grades 4-7. Basic digital skills are taught from Grade 3 onwards.

FOUNDATION PHASE, INTERMEDIATE PHASE & SENIOR PHASE

Our main aim in the Foundation Phase is to equip our learners with the necessary building blocks for numeracy and literacy development, as well as social integration in a small group environment. In so doing, we ensure that they progress to the Intermediate and Senior Phases, empowered with a "backpack" filled with the required skill-set that can be built upon. In Grade 3 learners are exposed to Google products, such as Google Docs and Slides on a weekly basis. Learners in the Intermediate and Senior Phases access the CAPS curriculum on laptops (not tablets) via Google Classroom on a daily basis, as well as via face-to-face teaching and learning, using textbooks and scripts.
